Mission Statement
"Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul. As a reflection of the whole family of God, members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic Rule. Organized locally, Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ."
Hours of Operation
The St Vincent de Paul conference of Saint Charles Borromeo parish serves our neighbors in need from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Emergency needs outside of these hours can be called in to (401) 263-8324.
If you are in need of financial assistance, please arrive by 11:00 AM in order to have sufficient time to complete the request process. Mary’s Closet closes at 11:30am. For food only requests, arrive by 11:15 AM, as we often have a large number of requests to fulfill.
Have you thought about
volunteering with us?
Volunteers are essential to our mission. Why volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul? Volunteering gives you a sense of purpose. It leads you to faith and caring by serving the less fortunate of your community, by providing food and clothing, helping with rent and utilities, and supplying personal hygiene items when available. St. Vincent de Paul needs volunteers in ALL areas. No matter what your talents are we can use you!
To inquire about volunteering, come see us at 21844 Felton Ave., Port Charlotte on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or call (941) 625-9784.
